Colossians 2:1-2

Love?

Here Paul introduces emotion, no strong emotion in the context.  He talks about a great conflict he has even for people he hasn't yet seen! He talks about unity, comfort, assurance of understanding and a grasp of the mystery of God. All wrapped up in agape love.

I've been a churchy guy all my life, at least since age 8. I'm now 83 and what I'm about to say to you is sadly real. They kind of love on display in these two verses and many others in the Book is supernatural, Holy Spirit inspired and sustained love in the body life of the church. Frankly it's rare as hens teeth.

Most church people listen with their heads and not their hearts. I've been a pastor to pastors all many denominations and they rarely if ever get a call from their overseers regarding their personal lives.

People in the church can miss three or four Sundays and guess who calls to check on them, nobody! True biblical love is expensive, time consuming, and requires energy. The truth is this: When you offer Godly love to others the Holy Spirit rushes to you and empowers, emboldens and blesses. The Bible says that when you give to the poor you lend to the Lord.  gvl
